Many <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a> people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/resources\/coming-out-as-bisexual-to-your-doctor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">report feeling<\/a> that parts of their identity are ignored by their doctors.<\/p>\n<p>Further, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2019\/01\/20\/683216767\/medical-students-push-for-more-lgbt-health-training-to-address-disparities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to multiple studies<\/a>, many medical students receive inadequate education on LGBTQ-specific health concerns. <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/1104294\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A 2011 study<\/a> found that the median amount of time spent on LGBTQ-specific training was just five hours. This significant training deficit impacts the physical and mental health of LGBTQ people who may face embarrassment or discrimination at the doctor\u2019s office or miss out on important health information.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how health care professionals can make their practices more welcoming and inclusive of their <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a> patients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Display pro-LGBTQ signage and literature in the waiting room. This is often the first indicator that a doctor\u2019s office is inclusive of all people and identities.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid making assumptions about a person\u2019s sexuality based on the gender of their current partner.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid making assumptions about a person\u2019s sexual behavior based solely on their sexual orientation. Oftentimes <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a> people are unfairly stigmatized as promiscuous, which can make <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bi<\/a> people feel stereotyped and uncomfortable, and therefore less honest about their health needs.<\/li>\n<li>Feature a section on intake forms where patients can write-in their sexuality. Doctors can then begin the conversation using clear, informative language.<\/li>\n<li>Doctors must be aware of of <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a>-specific health concerns. Bisexual people are more likely than both straight and cisgender people, as well as their <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/?mp_code=akftr\">lesbian<\/a> and <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> counterparts, to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/bisexual-health-awareness-month-bi-the-way-our-health-matters-too\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">depressed, abuse alcohol and consider or attempt suicide<\/a>. They are also more likely to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/resources\/sexual-assault-and-the-lgbt-community\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">experience sexual assault<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/common-myths-about-lgbtq-domestic-violence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">domestic violence<\/a>; and <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a> <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">men<\/a> are <a href=\"https:\/\/assets2.hrc.org\/files\/assets\/resources\/HRC-BiHealthBrief.pdf?_ga=2.17244666.2108355723.1549485334-1252962305.1538160747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">particularly at risk<\/a> for HIV and HPV.<\/li>\n<li>Given these statistics, doctors should ask specific, relevant questions about the mental and physical health of their <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a> patients. In future appointments, doctors should also follow-up with the patient about mental and physical health concerns prevalent among <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a> people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We must acknowledge the unique health concerns that <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a>, pansexual, queer and sexually fluid people face &#8212; and work together to dismantle the barriers keeping them from accessing full, competent care.
