Gay Trump Supporter Michael Sanchez Was Paid $200K to Leak Racy Photos of Jeff Bezos to \u2018National Enquirer\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n

In February, The Daily Beast reported that Michael Sanchez<\/a>, a gay<\/a> Trump supporter and the brother of Jeff Bezos\u2019 mistress Lauren Sanchez, was behind the leak of Bezos\u2019 racy photos <\/a>to the\u00a0National Enquirer<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Late on Monday, the <\/a>Wall Street Journal<\/a><\/em> reported<\/a> that Michael Sanchez was paid $200,000 by the Enquirer<\/em>\u2018s parent company AMI to do so.<\/p>\n

HuffPost reports<\/a>: \u201cMichael S\u00e1nchez, a talent agent and Lauren S\u00e1nchez\u2019s brother, was a longtime source for the Enquirer<\/em>, the Journal<\/em> reported Monday. He\u2019d started talking to the tabloid last fall about his sister\u2019s relationship with Bezos, the paper said, citing unnamed sources. The Enquirer<\/em> had already been trailing and photographing Bezos and S\u00e1nchez at the time of those conversations. David Pecker, American Media Inc.\u2019s CEO, reportedly approved the payment to S\u00e1nchez so the tabloid could acquire the sexually charged text messages that the couple<\/a> had sent to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

USA Today reports<\/a>: \u2018The amount is higher than the company typically pays sources, the Journal<\/em> reported, saying it \u201creflected the significance American Media placed on Mr. Sanchez\u2019s information. \u2026 The Journal<\/em> reported that Pecker was unaware Michael Sanchez was paid up-front and had a heated meeting with general counsel Cameron Stracher in New York City. AMI source agreements require, in most cases, for the company to pay for information after the story is published and if a story is never published the company doesn\u2019t have to pay, the Journal<\/em> reported. The company\u2019s contract with Michael Sanchez was different and stipulated he was to paid up-front, regardless of whether any story was published, people familiar with the contract told the Journal<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n
