<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThe latest CDC HIV Surveillance<\/em> report<\/a> says HIV rates have been increasing largely among young, gay<\/a> and bi<\/a> Latino men<\/a> under 30. <\/p>\n
Particularly moving is their story of a 19-year-old, HIV-positive man<\/a> named Hector from the Bronx who tells his mother he\u2019s gay<\/a> for the first time after learning about his HIV status.<\/p>\n
The good news: The US Department of Health has listed<\/a> the Bronx as one of its target counties to reduce HIV rates.<\/p>\n
But the Trump administration adds to the problems of people on the margins with HIV. It\u2019s difficult to end HIV\/AIDS when they are the most highly targeted of Trump\u2019s anti-immigration hatred and vitriol <\/p>\n
From <\/a>The Guardian<\/a><\/em>: In the very same State of the Union speech in which Trump made the HIV\/AIDS announcement, he also spent a considerable amount of time railing against immigrants and demanding trans<\/a> troops be thrown out of the army. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t help when at the highest level government, somebody said: \u2018We don\u2019t want any more trans<\/a> in the army,\u2019 Guillermo Chacon, the president of the Latino Commission on AIDS said, in an interview at the Oasis Latino LGBTS Wellness Center in Manhattan. The center welcomes everyone (S is for straight) but specifically targets the Latino community. Chacon continued: \u201cThe signal you send is that it\u2019s OK to reject people who are different from you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
