Out Singer Kenyth\u2019s New Single Is About Losing An Ex To Meth Addiction<\/b><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been four years since Kenyth (formerly Kenyth Mogan) released the Wizard of Oz<\/em> themed video<\/a> to his hit song \u201cUnlock My Heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUnlock\u201d has been seen nearly two million times since.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How did \u201cUnlock Your Heart\u2019s\u201d success change your life?\u00a0<\/strong>It\u2019s a very strange experience to get messages and marriage proposals from people you\u2019ve never met, who are literally on the other side of the world. I love, that four years after it\u2019s release, I\u2019m still getting asked about \u201cUnlock Your Heart\u201d. A little known fact, to tie it into Holy Water,<\/em> Unlock Your Heart was written by Aaron Harris and Matthew Hayes. Hayes, is a close friend of Tiffany\u2019s and she actually sang on his demo for the song.<\/p>\n

You mentioned that the song has an addiction metaphor and that it\u2019s personal\u2014how so?\u00a0<\/strong>When I first heard the demo, which was several years ago, I was right in the middle of watching someone I was in love with and dating losing his struggle with a meth addiction. <\/p>\n

So, I could relate to it.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

It was frightening and heartbreaking time.\u2014<\/strong>eventually, he ended up spending a few years in prison. I loved Tiffany\u2019s version, and when it didn\u2019t show up on any of her subsequent albums I reached out and asked if I could record it. I couldn\u2019t be more honored that they gave me permission to do so. It\u2019s a wonderful song, and one I know a lot of people, especially in the LGBT community can relate to.<\/p>\n

You\u00a0talk\u00a0about\u00a0growing\u00a0up\u00a0in\u00a0Montana\u00a0a\u00a0lot\u2014Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always talked about how wonderful my growing up in Montana was like. Everyone assumes that because it\u2019s the country \u2013 I grew up in a little town called Glasgow, filled with cowboys and other macho-masculine stereotypes\u2014 that it must\u2019ve been a horrible experience to grow up there. It wasn\u2019t. My grandmother was very protective of me. She fought for me every single day of her life, and made sure I knew I was loved and protected.\u00a0 She was an amazing woman<\/a>. It took other members of my family a little longer to be as open and accepting as my grandmother, but they are now. A few of my older family members even tried to hook me up with a police officer back home, whom they thought I would be \u201ctotally cute\u201d with.\u00a0 I loved growing up in Montana. <\/p>\n

Missoula, the place where I went to college was really where I came into my own. It\u2019s like a liberal little Bohemia, hidden within the mountains. It\u2019s still one of my most favorite places in the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What\u2019s next?\u00a0<\/strong>After two EPs, I am about halfway done with my debut album. It\u2019s been a long time coming, and I couldn\u2019t be more excited about it.\u00a0 I was given licensing rights to a very special property from my youth, so there is a theme to the album that\u2019s very fun, and really exciting for me. I can\u2019t wait to share.<\/p>\n
