And they are shunned from these sorts of events. So this one is for them,\u201d Mon\u00e1e told Malkin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a young Black queer <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/?mp_code=akftr\">woman<\/a> in America, there was something I had to say and there was a group of people that I wanted to celebrate, and I\u2019m happy to be representing them,\u201d said Mon\u00e1e.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope they feel seen; I hope they feel heard; I hope they feel loved, and I hope they feel celebrated. This is for you!\u201d she told <em>Variety<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zachmanzi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Zach Manzi (opens in a new tab)\">Zach Manzi<\/a>, a prodigal classical music composer who last year created an immersive musical experience connecting the stories of <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/offers.cam4tracking.com\/aff_c?offer_id=125&#38;aff_id=2778&#38;source=gfcsb\">trans<\/a> lives in Miami, opined on the significance of the recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Manzi said of  Mon\u00e1e\u2019s declaration: \u201cArt is about creating a bridge between peoples who are dissimilar in one way or another, and it can be a powerful way to broaden empathy for those who are seen as \u201cthe other.\u201d For an organization like the Grammy Awards to host and honor <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/offers.cam4tracking.com\/aff_c?offer_id=125&#38;aff_id=2778&#38;source=gfcsb\">trans<\/a> artists would be a small step in saying, \u201cyes, we see you, we hear you, and we love you.\u201d I am grateful that people with platforms like Mon\u00e1e are putting out this message.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Vanessa Monroig, Zach Manzi, and Samy Le Troy. Photo courtesy of Kristin Pulido.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The 25-year-old wunderkind is the Co-Artistic Director and a clarinetist in Conduit a group that is currently in residence at the Frost School of Music at University of Miami as the Knight Fellowship Ensemble. Conduit\u2019s objective in this fellowship is to design and produce three alternative concert formats for millennial-aged audiences in Miami. <\/p>\n<p>Manzi<br \/>\nexplains how music can be more transformative than hearing words He explains<br \/>\nthat music is an implicit form of expression, rather than an explicit one like<br \/>\nspeech. It can communicate emotional complexities where words fall short. \u201cI<br \/>\nbelieve the greatest power of music is in combining it with story, to augment<br \/>\nthe emotional expression of words and images. Hearing music in this context can<br \/>\nhelp one gain empathy for those who are different, especially those one is<br \/>\ninclined to see as \u201cthe other.\u201d I think more projects that tell stories with<br \/>\nmusic about real human issues need to be brought into the world, as they have<br \/>\nthe power to help people identify with others on a human level, especially<br \/>\nthose who are negatively impacted by policies set in place by our governments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> classical musician. In my field, being an openly <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">man<\/a> is generally accepted. Being <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/offers.cam4tracking.com\/aff_c?offer_id=125&#38;aff_id=2778&#38;source=gfcsb\">trans<\/a> is a whole other issue. This is disheartening to me, that my <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/offers.cam4tracking.com\/aff_c?offer_id=125&#38;aff_id=2778&#38;source=gfcsb\">trans<\/a> brothers and sisters may not feel they can be open, but it doesn\u2019t surprise me given the slowness of classical music to catch up with the rest of the world. However, it really blows my mind that other genres are still othering <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/offers.cam4tracking.com\/aff_c?offer_id=125&#38;aff_id=2778&#38;source=gfcsb\">trans<\/a> folks. Janelle Mon\u00e1e is sharing a message that all artists should be sharing, that <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/offers.cam4tracking.com\/aff_c?offer_id=125&#38;aff_id=2778&#38;source=gfcsb\">trans<\/a> artists are artists.
