Research published in December in the\u00a0Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics<\/a>, reveals that the cause of this north-south auroral asymmetry is the angle at which the sun\u2019s\u00a0solar wind<\/a>\u00a0and magnetic field approaches Earth.<\/p>\n
