GLAAD Releases list of the Trump Administration\u2019s 92 attacks on LGBTQ Americans ahead of the State of the Union Address<\/em><\/p>\n

GLAAD CEO: \u201cThere is no reason for LGBTQ Americans or anyone else to see tonight\u2019s State of the Union as anything more than empty rhetoric designed to\u00a0distract from what\u2019s really happening behind the scenes every day\u201d \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

NEW YORK<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 GLAAD, the world\u2019s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, today\u00a0issued the following statement slamming President Trump\u00a0ahead of his State of the Union Address and for his consistent attacks on marginalized communities, including the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no reason for LGBTQ Americans or anyone else to see tonight\u2019s State of the Union as anything more than empty rhetoric designed to\u00a0distract from what\u2019s really happening behind the scenes every day,\u201d\u00a0said Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO at GLAAD<\/strong>. \u201cWhat LGBTQ people know is this: The Trump Administration is the most anti-LGBTQ in modern history, and\u00a0will seemingly stoop to any low\u00a0to roll back the hard-won\u00a0progress\u00a0of\u00a0marginalized communities\u00a0in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to GLAAD\u2019s\u00a0Trump Accountability Project (TAP)<\/a>,\u00a0President Trump and his administration have\u00a0unleashed more than 92 attacks against LGBTQ Americans\u00a0in policy and rhetoric.\u00a0From\u00a0disbanding\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Presidential Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS<\/a>,\u00a0discharging two service members<\/a>\u00a0living with HIV, and banning transgender service members from openly serving their country, GLAAD\u00a0has catalogued every anti-LGBTQ action by this administration at\u00a0www.glaad.org\/trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Members of Congress invited transgender service members<\/a>, whose service to the nation is in jeopardy under a proposed ban by the President,\u00a0to attend the State of the\u00a0Union. Meanwhile,\u00a0GLAAD\u00a0took\u00a0the Trump Administration\u00a0to task\u00a0yesterday for its\u00a0call<\/a> for an end to\u00a0HIV transmissions by 2030<\/a>, a pledge\u00a0undermined in advance by the Administration\u2019s own record and rhetoric.<\/p>\n
