Jussie Smollett Speaks Out at First Performance After Attack: \u2018I Fought the F**k Back\u2019 \u2013 WATCH<\/b><\/p>\n

Empire<\/em> actor Jussie Smollett spoke about the attack on him<\/a> for the first time at a performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Smollett\u2019s family took the stage first, his brother Jojo speaking: \u201cHe\u2019s been a fighter since he was a baby. He fought his attackers that night and he continues to fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added Jojo: \u201cI wanted Jussie to sit this one out. I sincerely wanted him to stay out of the public [eye] until he heals. And after much debating, some arguing, many tears, my family and I realized that tonight is an important part of Jussie\u2019s healing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smollett then took the stage, addressing the audience: \u201cI have so many words on my heart. The most important thing that I can say is thank you so much and that I\u2019m okay.\u00a0I\u2019m not fully healed yet, but I\u2019m going to. And I\u2019m gonna stand strong with y\u2019all. I had to be here tonight. I couldn\u2019t let those motherf**kers win. l\u00a0will always stand for love. I will never stand for anything other than that. Regardless of what anyone else says, I will\u00a0only<\/em>\u00a0stand for love. And I hope that you all will stand with me. So thank you, now\u2026 let\u2019s do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He spoke about the attack again at the encore.<\/p>\n

Said Smollett<\/a>: \u201cJust because there has been a lot of stuff said about me that\u2019s absolutely not true\u2026I\u2019m sure my lawyer\u2019s sitting up there like. \u2018No, Jussie, no! No! Shut the f**k up and sing.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThere are just a couple<\/a> of points I wanted to make pretty quick\u2026four points\u2026.I was bruised but my ribs were not cracked; they were not broken. I went to the doctor immediately. I was not hospitalized. Both my doctors in L.A. and Chicago cleared me to perform, but said to take care, obviously. And above all: I fought the f**k back.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the show Smollett also addressed Empire creator Lee Daniels and actor Wilson Cruz, Variety<\/a><\/em> adds<\/a>: \u201cI promised myself I was not gonna cry tonight\u2026\u00a0Someone in the crowd that I want to recognize: Wilson Cruz is someone I identified with growing up.\u00a0I stand on the backs of so many people \u2014 of the Lee Daniels and the Wilson. Cruzes \u2014 and I pray to God I make you all proud.\u201d<\/p>\n
