UK site JOE reported<\/a>: \u2018The rumour began to gain traction when a Twitter account by the name of \u2018Eye Sports News\u2019 invented the rumour. They also attributed fake quotes from Loftus-Cheek\u2019s Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard, alleging that he said the Chelsea squad were surprised by the news\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n

There are currently no openly gay<\/a> Premier League footballers. In the U.S., Collin Martin, a midfielder for Minnesota United, came out as gay<\/a> in June, making him the\u00a0only\u00a0<\/em>openly gay<\/a> professional athlete active in any of the five major sports leagues: MLS, NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLB.<\/p>\n
