Every week, the GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend!<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> The CW has officially ordered a pilot for the new Batwoman <\/em>series,<\/a> starring out actress Ruby Rose as the lead lesbian<\/a> superhero. Batwoman made her debut on The CW in its annual Arrowverse <\/em>crossover, and this pilot order is a first step to giving Kate Kane her own dedicated series. If the pilot does indeed get picked up for a full season, it will likely\u00a0premiere this fall.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2) <\/strong>A new teaser has been released for the upcoming sixth season of GLAAD Media Award recipient Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em><\/a>. The show is premiering its new season on NBC,\u00a0 the trailer is a parody of the\u00a0Law & Order: SVU <\/em>opening credits.<\/em>\u00a0Check out the trailer below and catch season six of Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em> January 10 at 9pm on NBC.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Images and character details have been announced for Lena Waithe and Halle Berry\u2019s upcoming Boomerang <\/em>television show, a reboot of the 1992 movie of the same name. The new characters include Ari, who is described as\u00a0\u201can equal opportunist when it comes to dating,\u201d and Rocky, \u201ca lesbian<\/a> with a dominant personality, she is very protective over her girlfriend<\/a> Tia and her career.\u201d The images and full character descriptions can be found here.<\/a> A new trailer was also released for The Chi, <\/em>created by Waithe as well. Season two will begin airing this spring.<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> A new trailer for season two of Netflix\u2019s Friends from College <\/em>was released this week<\/a>. The trailer shows the friends having to reconcile, and the group preparing for the wedding of Max (Fred Savage) and Felix (out actor Billy Eichner). The season takes place during the lead up to the wedding and will explore the various dramas playing out between friends. Friends from College <\/em>season two will be released on Netflix on January 11.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> A season premiere date has been announced for BBC America\u2019s critically acclaimed Killing Eve<\/em><\/a>, which will return on Sunday April 7th<\/sup>. The show follows the cat and mouse relationship between detective Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) and bisexual<\/a> assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). The second season will pick up right after the first left off, at a huge cliffhanger. Watch a short promo below.<\/p>\n

\"\"6)<\/strong> Legendary Television announced a new limited series on Thursday, Simply Halston<\/em>,<\/a> which follows the life of infamous gay<\/a> fashion designer Halston. The show will star Ewan McGregor in the titular role;\u00a0as he creates a worldwide fashion empire and\u00a0then loses it. A documentary on his life, Halston, <\/a><\/em>will premiere later this month at the Sundance Film Festival.<\/a><\/p>\n

7)<\/strong>\u00a0Nominations for the 2019 Producers Guild Awards have been announced, with many LGBTQ-inclusive projects being honored<\/a>.\u00a0Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Rich Asians, The Favourite, Green Book <\/em>and\u00a0A Star is Born\u00a0<\/em>are nominated for\u00a0The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures;\u00a0The Handmaid’s Tale, This Is Us, GLOW,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0The Good Place<\/em>\u00a0are nominees\u00a0in television categories;\u00a0The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story\u00a0<\/em>was nominated for The David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Limited Series Television, as was\u00a0Sense8: Together Until the End; <\/em>and Queer Eye\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0RuPaul’s Drag Race<\/em>\u00a0both recieved a nomination in their respective unscripted television categories. The PGA winners will be annnounced on January 19.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

8)\u00a0<\/strong>Several\u00a0presenters for this Sunday\u2019s Golden Globes have been announced.<\/a> Presenters include bisexual<\/a> pop singer and star of A Star is Born<\/em>, Lady Gaga, who is also a nominee;\u00a0out actor and producer Jim Parsons, who received GLAAD\u2019s Stephen F. Kolzak award last year; as well as out actor, producer, and writer Lena Waithe. The Golden Globes include several LGBTQ nominees in the film and television series, read about them here.<\/a> Catch the Globes this Sunday at 5pm PT\/8pm ET on NBC. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

9)<\/strong> The lineup has been announced for this year\u2019s Coachella\u00a0featuring big names and several out LGBTQ performers. Janelle Monae, King Princess, SOPHIE, Christine and the Queens, Blood Orange and more are all scheduled to perform on the weekends of April 12-14 and 19-21.\u00a0Click here for the full lineup and tickets.<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"10)<\/strong> Out bisexual<\/a> comedian, podcaster and author Gaby Dunn\u2019s new book Bad With Money <\/em>came out this week. The book, based off her successful podcast of the same name, is filled with non-judgemental advice about how to handle finances, and encouraging people to be more transparent about their money use. Bad With Money<\/em> also contains personal anecdotes from Dunn\u2019s life, and breaks down financial power structures. It is available for purchase here.<\/a><\/p>\n

11)<\/strong> Filmmaker Juan Carlos Gutierrez is currently funding for his graduate thesis project Hugowood.<\/em> The series is a dramedy set at a fictional Texas art school, and follows a gay<\/a> Latinx teenager who wants to create a gay<\/a> space opera. The show includes drama with his closeted professor and his crush, as well as tension with the mean girls<\/a> at the school. Click here to <\/a>learn more about\u00a0the project.<\/p>\n
