Calum Scott Dives Deep into His Gay Anthem \u2018No Matter What\u2019, Says He\u2019s on Tinder: \u2018People Should Know I\u2019m Swiping\u2019 \u2013 WATCH<\/b><\/p>\n
British singer-songwriter Calum Scott took a deep dive into his LGBTQ anthem \u201cNo Matter What\u201d<\/a> in a recent interview with Sound Bites UK.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Said Scott of how it was to write such a personal song: \u201c\u2018It just made me feel liberated and a lot more at peace with myself when things I was holding back and suppressing were out on paper.\u00a0Before I released the album I wasn\u2019t satisfied with where I was at with my sexuality. I wasn\u2019t necessarily happy or proud of my sexuality\u2026No Matter What kind of went in my catalog. I released the album and afterwards I kind of regretted not including it on my debut album. So I spoke to the label and said, \u2018you know this is a really personal song but I want to release it. I want it to have its moment.\u2019 So the label said \u2018 you know, test it out live<\/a>.\u2019 I performed it on the Human Tour and in America to thousands of thousands of people and night after night there would be rows and rows and rows of people crying, stirred with their parents, and that really moved me. I cried almost every time that I sang it\u2026As personal as it is, it is probably a song that I\u2019m most proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n Scott said that the recording process for \u201cNo Matter What\u201d brought out a \u201cwealth of emotion\u201d about the way his mother reacted to him coming out (\u201cso pure and so magical and everything you want to hear\u201d). That emotion was reversed when he came out to his friends, who abandoned him. \u201cThat was really rough, and that emotion came as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Scott also spoke about making the music video<\/a>, directed by Ozzie Pullin, and how he broke down recording the performance for it. \u201cWe did the take and I was welling up for most of it, and at the end, it was just all the emotion of the song, the video<\/a> just came flooding in and I broke down and he comes in and gives me a hug\u2026And there was a little bit of a squabble when he was cutting the video<\/a> as to should we have that in there? It kind of breaks down the fourth wall a little bit. But we just all agreed that it shows how real it is \u2013 not only to the audience but the audience to the artist \u2013 how real of a struggle it is.\u201d<\/p>\n Scott said he has received many, many messages of support since releasing the video<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m very proud that I get to go around the world and spread that message.\u201d<\/p>\n Watch the full interview above, and the video<\/a> below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Scott recently told GSN<\/a> that he\u2019s using Tinder to find a boyfriend.<\/p>\n Said Scott: \u201cPeople think I\u2019m a catfish!\u00a0\u2018It says on my bio \u201cI\u2019m not a catfish. This is me.\u201d They say: \u201cThat\u2019s what a catfish would say.\u201d I can\u2019t win!
