Boston Gay Bars Receive Threatening Phone Calls<\/b><\/p>\n

At least two Boston gay<\/a> bars received threatening phone calls<\/a> around the same time on consecutive nights over the weekend, according to police. What the threats were was not disclosed.<\/p>\n

dbar in Dorchester received a threatening call<\/a> on Friday night, and The Alley Bar in downtown Boston received a similar call<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Police Commissioner William G. Gross told the Boston Herald<\/em><\/a>: \u201cIf we receive calls<\/a> for threats, we\u2019re going to investigate it, we\u2019re going to investigate it to the fullest potential and hope we get the individual making those threats.\u00a0We like to be cognizant of any threat.\u00a0Any threat is always concerning, but we\u2019re here for the folks.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Boston Globe<\/em> reported on the threat to The Alley<\/a>: \u201cRocco LaMonica, the bar\u2019s manager on duty, said a doorman answered the bar\u2019s phone and heard the threats. LaMonica would not comment on what happened during the call<\/a> but said it \u2018was threatening enough that we needed to call<\/a> the police.\u2019 \u2018We\u2019re not going to stand back for anybody,\u2019 LaMonica said. \u2018You can\u2019t take a chance now.’\u201d<\/p>\n
