I\u2019m just gonna cross that word out of my vocabulary and this entire part of the world ceases to exist?\u201d<\/p>\n News of the draconian transgender rights rollbacks came this week in\u00a0a report in the\u00a0New York Times<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that the Trump administration has been circulating\u00a0 a proposal to legally erase transgender people by creating a federal legal definition of gender.<\/p>\n The NYT<\/a>: \u201cThe department argued in its memo that key government agencies needed to adopt an explicit and uniform definition of gender as determined \u2018on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.\u2019 The agency\u2019s proposed definition would define sex<\/a> as either male<\/a> or female<\/a>, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with, according to a draft reviewed by The Times. Any dispute about one\u2019s sex<\/a> would have to be clarified using genetic testing.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the memo seen by the NYT, the Department of Health and Human Services is proposing that \u201cSex means a person\u2019s status as male<\/a> or female<\/a> based on immutable biological traits identifiable by or before birth.\u00a0The sex<\/a> listed on a person\u2019s birth certificate, as originally issued, shall constitute definitive proof of a person\u2019s sex<\/a> unless rebutted by reliable genetic evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n Said Trump to reporters on his way to Houston for a rally Monday evening: \u201cWe\u2019re looking at it. We have a lot of different concepts right now. They have a lot of different things happening with respect to transgender right now. You know that as well as I do, and we\u2019re looking at it very seriously. I\u2019m protecting everybody. You know what I\u2019m doing? I\u2019m protecting everybody.
