Variety has recenty unveiled the names of its star-studded\u00a0The New Power of New York List 2018<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>which profiles 50 journalists, musicians, athletes and everyone in between who are steadily “changing the face of the five boroughs and beyond.”<\/p>\n

The list is full of excellence, and highlights the accomplishments of a number of LGBTQ figures as well. From profiles on Gus Kenworthy and Billy Porter, The New Power of New York List 2018 brings visibility to the LGBTQ community by celebrating the work of its most recognizable faces.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the slopes, Kenworthy took home a silver medal at the 2014 Olympics. But more important, by coming out of the closet, he became an overnight role model for the LGBTQ community. And his social media feed is a must-read for updates on his New York life, boyfriend and puppies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In some circles, Peppermint is far from new; she\u2019s been turning out unforgettable drag performances across the city for years.
