Rowling<\/a> and Jude Law, who plays the young wizard<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, in an interview in the November 2018 Empire<\/em><\/a>, Yates is more clear:\u00a0\u201cDumbledore is not out as a gay<\/a> man<\/a> in this film\u2026This part of this huge narrative that Jo is creating doesn\u2019t focus on his sexuality, but we\u2019re not airbrushing or hiding it\u2026The story isn\u2019t there in this particular movie but it\u2019s clear in what you see\u2026 that he is gay<\/a>.\u00a0A couple<\/a> of scenes we shot are very sensual moments of him and the young Grindelwald.\u00a0I think people just have to wait and see and appreciate that in movies to come that relationship with be explored much more fully.\u201d<\/p>\n Said Law in July: \u201c\u2026as with humans, your sexuality doesn\u2019t necessarily define you; he\u2019s multifaceted. I suppose the question is: How is Dumbledore\u2019s sexuality depicted in this film? What you got to remember this is only the second Fantastic Beasts film in a series and what\u2019s brilliant about Jo\u2019s writing is how she reveals her characters, peels them to the heart over time. You\u2019re just getting to know Albus in this film, and there\u2019s obviously a lot more to come. We learn a little about his past in the beginning of this film, and characters and their relationships will unfold naturally which I\u2019m excited to reveal.
