USA Today reports that the lawsuit was announced by Fox on Friday with his lawyer Gloria Allred<\/a>: \u2018In a choked voice, Fox described what he said O\u2019Neal did to him and the consequences he is still suffering. He said he was minding his own business, dragging a wheeled laundry basket to a nearby laundromat, when he saw a\u00a0young man<\/a> approaching dressed in a hoodie and carrying a bottle in a paper bag. Fox said the man<\/a> snarled, \u201cWhat are you looking at,\u201d adding a common gay<\/a> slur.\u00a0\u201cI was not dressed provocatively. All I did was look up when I saw him approach me.\u201d\u00a0Fox said the slur the man<\/a> used amounts to \u201chate\u00a0speech\u201d and is \u201cjust one of many offensive terms used to make gay<\/a> men<\/a> feel ashamed of themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n The paper adds: \u201cHe said the man<\/a>, later identified by police as O\u2019Neal, rushed at him, bashed him on the nose with a beer bottle, then stood over him as he lay on the ground bleeding. He said the man<\/a> continued to taunt him with slurs, throwing punches and threatening to hit him with the bottle.\u201d<\/p>\n According to The Blast, \u201cO\u2019Neal eventually fled the scene and\u00a0ended up getting arrested<\/a>\u00a0several days later after he allegedly committed\u00a0several other crimes. He\u00a0was eventually charged\u00a0<\/a>with\u00a0attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, brandishing a knife and battery.\u201d<\/p>\n Said Fox:\u00a0\u201cI have spent the last four months recovering from what Redmond O\u2019Neal did to me. I am speaking out today because I need to do what I can to make sure that this man<\/a> never injures or hurts another defenseless \u2018faggot\u2019 ever again. That\u2019s what Mr. O\u2019Neal called me right before he sucker punched me.
