Imagine Dragons Frontman Dan Reynolds to LGBTQ Youth: \u2018We Need You. We Love You. We Accept You.\u2019 \u2013 WATCH<\/b>

Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds spoke out for LGBTQ equality (above)\u00a0 at the Love Loud Festival Sunday night at the\u00a0Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. The festival supports LGBTQ charities.<\/p>\n

Reynolds spoke at the end of an Imagine Dragons set before launching into the track \u201cBeliever\u201d.<\/p>\n

Said Reynolds. \u201cWe\u2019ve got one last song for you. We love you. We love you. To our LGBTQ youth, stay with us every day. We need you, we love you, we accept you. Your love is valid, it\u2019s pure, it\u2019s true, it\u2019s beautiful.\u00a0We stand with you.\u00a0 Love Loud will be here. We\u2019re just going to stay here. Thank you for raising over a million dollars tonight. Peace, love, equality. We\u2019ll see you again soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reynolds, a straight Mormon, is the subject of the new documentary\u00a0Believer<\/em>,\u00a0directed by Don Argott (DeLorean, Batman<\/em> & Bill, The Art of the Steal<\/em>), which follows Reynolds as he explores how the LDS church treats its LGBTQ members.<\/p>\n

The doc, which premiered at Sundance, began airing on HBO this summer.<\/p>\n

Reynolds\u00a0told Billboard in 2017<\/a>: \u201cOne of the reasons I\u2019ve felt such a need to speak out on this is I\u2019ve gotten countless emails and letters from fans around the world who said, \u2018I\u2019m gay<\/a>, but I know you\u2019re Mormon so that probably means you don\u2019t accept my lifestyle, but I love \u2018It\u2019s Time\u2019 and your music.\u2019 That was devastating and it broke my heart to get letters like that. I\u2019ve written back to these people to tell them, \u201cNo, I do support you and I\u2019m here for you.\u201d It\u2019s been a driving force for me to raise awareness and make a difference and not just sit back to let people feel that hurt. \u201cIt\u2019s Time\u201d reached a lot in a lot of different ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple CEO Tim Cook also spoke at the concert: \u201cI stand before you tonight as an uncle, a sports nut, a CEO, a lover of the beautiful Utah outdoors, and a proud gay<\/a> American.\u00a0I\u2019ve come to deliver a simple message that I want every LGBTQ person to hear and to believe: You are a gift to the world, a unique and special gift just the way you are. Your life matters. To you I say, find your truth, speak your truth, live<\/a> your truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
