New Hampshire GOP Governor Chris Sununu was praised by LGBTQ rights groups on Friday after signing two bills \u2013 one banning harmful gay<\/a> conversion therapy and the other outlawing gender-based discrimination.<\/p>\n WMUR reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cDiscrimination \u2013 in any form \u2013 is unacceptable and runs contrary to New Hampshire\u2019s Live Free or Die Spirit,\u201d Sununu said in a statement after signing\u00a0House Bill 1319<\/a>, the trangender rights bill. \u201cIf we really want to be the \u2018Live Free or Die\u2019 state, we must ensure that New Hampshire is a place where every person, regardless of their background, has an equal and full opportunity to pursue their dreams and to make a better life for themselves and their families.<\/p>\n \u201cThis bill will ensure equal rights, equal opportunity, and nondiscrimination protections in the areas of housing and employment,\u201d Sununu said.<\/p>\n Social conservatives who had urged Sununu to veto the bills, criticized him after the signing.<\/p>\n The post NH GOP Governor Signs Bills Banning Gay Conversion Therapy, Outlawing Gender-Based Discrimination<\/a> appeared first on Towleroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n
