GLAAD Launches \u201cAmp Your Voice\u201d Traveling Billboard during LGBTQ Pride Month<\/b><\/p>\n

GLAAD has officially launched its\u00a0\u201cAmp Your Voice\u201d LGBTQ youth voter engagement campaign\u00a0today!\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Goal:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

GLAAD wants to increase LGBTQ youth turnout for the midterm election, as our stories, voices and concerns should all be seen and heard by our government. Young LGBTQ people should always be empowered to speak up, speak out, register to vote, and then take the issues that matter most to them to the polls on November 6th, 2018.<\/p>\n

The Strategy:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

Pride festivals will be happening all over the country from New York to San Francisco, and GLAAD will be kicking off its “Amp Your Voice” campaign by sending a traveling billboard to tour\u00a0these festivals in major cities to raise awareness for the campaign, onboard\u00a0new voters, and encourage the next generation of LGBTQ youth to excercise their right to vote. The first stop will be the BuzzFeed Queer Prom in New York City happening today. On site will be GLAAD’s own\u00a0Campus Ambassador Leah Juliett, with\u00a0Rain Dove walking the red carpet, and GLAAD staff and volunteers will be registering attendees to vote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung people in this country are at the forefront of articulating the connection between the perilousness of their rights and safety under Trump Administration and the power of their own voices to create change.\u201d said Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD. \u201cGLAAD\u2019s Amp Your Voice campaign will further empower young people, especially LGBTQ youth and allies, in their leadership roles.\u201d<\/p>\n

  6. Denver, CO for Denver Pride<\/li>\n
  7. Santa Ana, CA for Orange County Pride<\/li>\n
  8. San Francisco, CA for SF Pride.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The GLAAD\u00a0\u00a0“Amp Your Voice” traveling billboard will also address the constant attacks the Trump Administration has made on LGBTQ people since January 2017. GLAAD\u2019s Trump Accountability Project has documented more than 75 direct attacks<\/a>, including ongoing efforts to ban transgender soldiers from serving in the military and revoking non-discrimination protections for transgender youth at school.<\/p>\n

    GLAAD is also launching the official\u00a0online action center<\/a> for the “Amp Your Voice” campaign, where users will be encouraged to register to vote, take specific action on state and federal legislation, contact their representatives in Congress, and participate in GLAAD\u2019s calls<\/a> to action for video<\/a> submissions telling us why people are energized and inspired to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.<\/p>\n

    GLAAD\u2019s “Amp Your Voice Campaign” is launching at a time where LGBTQ acceptance is falling and anti-LGBTQ violence and discrimination are on the rise. GLAAD and The Harris Poll\u2019s 2018 Accelerating Acceptance Report, which measures American attitudes toward LGBTQ people and issues<\/a>\u00a0showed a decline in acceptance of LGBTQ people for the first time in the report\u2019s four year history.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
