A LICENSE TO DISCRIMINATE: <\/strong>Any day now, the Supreme Court of the United States is expected to rule in <em>Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission<\/em>, a case involving a baker who in 2012 refused to provide a wedding cake for a same-<a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">couple<\/a>. That means the Supreme Court could decide whether doors can be closed to some or whether they must be #OpenToAll. The decision could open the door to businesses refusing services to people of color, religious minorities and people with disabilities. More from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/whats-at-stake-at-the-supreme-court-a-license-to-discriminate\" target=\"_blank\">HRC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW JERSEY PASSES BILL MODERNIZING PROCESS TO CHANGE GENDER MARKER ON BIRTH CERTIFICATE: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.njleg.state.nj.us\/bills\/BillView.asp?BillNumber=S478\" target=\"_blank\">The bill<\/a>, which now heads to Governor Phil Murphy\u2019s office, removes the current surgical requirement for updating one\u2019s gender marker. When asked about the legislation, the governor\u2019s office said that Murphy \u201cis committed to fighting for the equal treatment of all New Jersey\u2019s residents, regardless of <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a>, race, gender identity or country of origin.\u201d This measure was previously vetoed by then-Governor Chris Christie. More from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/new-jersey-legislature-passes-bills-to-ensure-birth-and-death-certificates\" target=\"_blank\">HRC<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/observer.com\/2018\/05\/new-jersey-transgender-rights-bills\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Observer<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New Jersey lawmakers also passed<\/strong> a bill that requires the <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> designation on a decedent\u2019s death certificate to accurately reflect their gender identity. It also creates a process for determining the gender identity of a decedent for purposes of their death certificate if conflicting information exists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CONNECTICUT GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL ALLOWING TRANS INMATES TO BE HOUSED ACCORDING TO THEIR GENDER IDENTITY: <\/strong>The law, which goes into effect July 1, also ensures that <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/offers.cam4tracking.com\/aff_c?offer_id=125&#38;aff_id=2778&#38;source=gfcsb\">trans<\/a> inmates will be searched by officers matching their gender, have their pronouns respected and have access to clothing and toiletries matching their gender. <em>Metro Weekly<\/em>\u2019s John Riley (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnAndresRiley\" target=\"_blank\">@JohnAndresRiley<\/a>) reports that Connecticut is the first state with such a law.
