60 Minutes<\/em>\u2018 Lesley Stahl appeared at\u00a0the annual Deadline Club Awards Dinner in New York City on Monday night, and said that before she interviewed Donald Trump in Trump Tower shortly after the election<\/a>, she asked him why he attacks the press so much, The Intercept reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Said Stahl: \u201cBefore the interview I met with him in Trump Tower. And he really is the same off camera<\/a> that he is on camera<\/a>, exactly the same. And at one point he started to attack the press. And it\u2019s just me and my boss and him \u2013 he has a huge office \u2013 and he\u2019s attacking the press. And there were no cameras<\/a>, there was nothing going on. And I said, \u2018You know, that is getting tired, why are you doing this? You\u2019re doing it over and over and it\u2019s boring, it\u2019s time to end that, you\u2019ve won the nomination [sic], and why do you keep hammering at this?\u2019 And he said: \u2018You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.\u2019 He said that. So put that in your head for a minute.\u201d<\/p>\n
