Drag Queen Ada Vox was sent to the Top 10 on American Idol<\/em> last night by the judges after viewers did not send Vox enough votes to make her an automatic advance. Vox therefore had to sing for her life.<\/p>\n

But a show-stopping performance of \u201cAnd I Am Telling You\u201d from Dreamgirls<\/em> had Katy Perry removing her earrings and putting her foot down.<\/p>\n

Said Perry: \u201cI don\u2019t know everything. I\u2019ve got a lot to learn. But I have worked my butt<\/a> off for over 10 years in the spotlight and these gentlemen on my side (pointing to Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan) \u2013 all of us collectively together \u2013 how many years would that be, maybe 60? Collectively? I think we do know talent when we see it. I would say that we would like to make an executive decision right now that Ada \u2013 (points over to where the top 10 are seated).\u201d<\/p>\n

And the audience, who had been chanting \u201ca-DA, a-DA\u201d heartily approved of the move.<\/p>\n

Perry later told reporters<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cWhen the Ada moment came, it wasn\u2019t just one person\u2019s idea.\u00a0We all looked at each other and we saw the math \u2026 excuse us, we\u2019re going to step in now.\u00a0Were we allowed to do that? We found out we were.\u00a0We messed up the timetable a bit, but you know what it was, we felt so strongly about it, we didn\u2019t have to wait for that vote.\u00a0Enough was enough and you put your foot down when it\u2019s real.\u00a0We stand for truth and for justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Said Ada, in a comment on the YouTube video<\/a>: \u201cHey, y\u2019all!!! Firsrly, I wanted to start by saying that I love you all!!!
\nSecondly, I wanted to make note that I am aware of my much less than perfect vocal. Haha not only did my emotions run wild on me, but before the show, I had an allergic reaction to our lunch which made my tongue and throat swell up almost immediately. So that was fun\u2026 Lol
