Mike Pence Sponsors White House Bible Study Led By Anti-LGBTQ, Anti-Women Extremist<\/b>

Several cabinet secretaries, along with Vice President Mike Pence, sponsor a White House Bible study group led by Ralph Drollinger, an extremist who says LGBTQ people are \u201cillegitimate.\u201d Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos attend the weekly sessions in Washington<\/a>. While Drollinger claims he doesn\u2019t tell members he\u2019s advised in the past how to vote, he notes that he would \u201cput the blueprint on the engineer’s seat on the train.\u201d<\/p>\n

People look to their faith as a source of guidance and inspiration \u2013 and LGBTQ people and our family and friends are no different. Drollinger\u2019s brand of faith, however, seeks to drive a wedge between the LGBTQ community and other people of faith. Drollinger calls<\/a> \u201cthe ultimate outcome\u201d of gay<\/a> people \u201cthe discontinuation of the species since homosexuals cannot procreate.\u201d He also said that endorsing LGBTQ equality is \u201cto head in a direction contrary to God\u2019s desire.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2013<\/a>, Drollinger went so far as to say, \u201cHomosexuality and same-sex<\/a> ceremonies are illegitimate in God’s eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n

His problematic ministry does not end there. Drollinger has championed anti-women<\/a> views, saying that \u201cthere is a prohibition of female<\/a> leadership in marriage and female<\/a> leadership in the church.\u201d According to the BBC<\/a>, none of his bible studies, which are in 43 U.S. state capitols and more than 20 legislatures abroad, are led by women<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Drollinger\u2019s influence and involvement in the current administration is not only driving a wedge between faith communites and the LGBTQ community, but it is turning back the clock on progress with the spread of even more divisive rhetoric throughout the highest ranks of government.<\/p>\n
