The FBI on Monday raided the office of Donald Trump\u2019s lawyer Michael Cohen, seizing records related to payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels, among other things, the NYT reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n Federal prosecutors in Manhattan obtained the search warrant after receiving a referral from the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, according to Mr. Cohen\u2019s lawyer, who called the search \u201ccompletely inappropriate and unnecessary.\u201d The search does not appear to be directly related to Mr. Mueller\u2019s investigation, but likely resulted from information he had uncovered and gave to prosecutors in New York.<\/p>\n Also seized in the raid were tax and business records, as well as emails. according to the paper\u2019s source.<\/p>\n Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 in hush money<\/a> shortly before the 2016 election in order to stop her from talking about an affair with Trump.<\/p>\n Trump recently told reporters aboard Air Force One<\/a> that he denied knowing about the payment.<\/p>\n Daniels\u2019 lawyer Michael Avenatti responded to Trump\u2019s assertion, tweeting: \u201cWe very much look forward to testing the truthfulness of Mr. Trump\u2019s feigned lack of knowledge concerning the $130k payment as stated on Air Force One.
