Aaron Carter went back into the closet in a Hollywood Life podcast, saying his coming out as bisexua<\/a>l was \u201cmisconstrued.\u201d<\/p>\n Said Carter: \u201cIt was more so just a story that happened when I was like 17 with somebody.\u00a0I can find men<\/a> and women<\/a> attractive, but when it comes down to it, I think it was a little misconstrued. I see myself being with a woman<\/a> and having kids.\u00a0I want to have a family.\u00a0I keep telling people that. I don\u2019t want it to be misconstrued too much, just because I was open about a story.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Carter came out as bisexual in a note on social media in August 2017<\/a>, saying that it \u201chas been weighing on [his] chest for nearly half of [his] life.\u201d<\/p>\n In the social media post, Carter, the brother of Backstreet Boys\u2019 Nick Carter, said that since the age of 13 he has found both boys<\/a> and girls<\/a> attractive and had\u00a0his first experience with a man<\/a> at the age of 17.<\/p>\n Added Carter: \u201cThis doesn\u2019t bring me shame, just a weight and burden I have held onto for a long time that I would like lifted off of me.\u201d<\/p>\n Saying he never wanted to be a \u201cfigure of disappointment,\u201d Carter concluded with a quote from Boy George he said summed up his feelings: \u201cI\u2019ve neveer felt as though I didn\u2019t belong, I just acted as though I did.\u201d<\/p>\n Carter has since deleted that post.<\/p>\n In a follow-up interview, Carter was asked about how he\u2019s feeling and why he decided to come out when he did<\/a>.<\/p>\n Said Carter: \u201cAll I can say is that I\u2019m really looking forward to the future right now \u2013 and whether I choose to be with a woman<\/a> or a man<\/a> is my decision. No one else\u2019s. To be honest, I\u2019ve been thinking about it for years. I just felt like it was something I needed to do. I was having some personal issues, some turmoil in my ex-relationship. It was something that I just felt like was important and I needed to say. It was a part of a new chapter of turning 30\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n He said he has known since his early teens<\/a>, but didn\u2019t tell anyone: \u201cI knew when I was a little kid, like 12, 13. No-one really knew. Not my mom, no one. It wasn\u2019t until I was about 17 that there was somebody I had a small relationship with.\u201d<\/p>\n He also broke up with his girlfriend<\/a> after telling her: \u201cI had discussed it with my ex-girlfriend<\/a> and she didn\u2019t really understand it. She didn\u2019t want to, and that was it\u2026 We parted ways\u2026I don\u2019t really know what else to say about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Carter also had advice for others coming out: \u201cThe process is at your own pace and when you feel comfortable. There might be a lot of people who don\u2019t agree with it, but you might be surprised by the people who do\u2026.I was shocked. I was blown away\u00a0[by the supportive comments]\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI am a single man<\/a> right now.
