Seth Meyers examined the latest goings-on in Trumpland last night, starting with a look at Trump\u2019s unhinged Pennsylvania rally, where he went ostensibly to support Republican Rick Saccone, but ended up hardly mentioning him.<\/p>\n
\u201cTrump\u2019s like the friend that you invite to your karaoke birthday party who shows up late, doesn\u2019t bring a gift, and then sings \u2018Stairway To Heaven\u2019 ten times in a row.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the rally, Trump implied he\u2019s got dirt on Oprah (\u201che talks about Oprah the way Lex Luther talks about Superman\u201d), called Chuck Todd a \u201csleeping son of a bitch,\u201d and accused Maxine Waters of being \u201ca very low IQ individual.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd Trump knows high IQ individuals,\u201d Meyers added, \u201clike his Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meyers then played DeVos\u2019s disastrous 60 Minutes interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n Quipped Meyers: \u201cF minus. F minus. She\u2019s the highest ranking education official in the country and she acts like the substitute teacher who\u2019s just realizing her U.S. history isn\u2019t up to speed.\u201d<\/p>\n Meyers then headed back to Trump\u2019s behavior at the rally.<\/p>\n \u201cTrump is, of course, so obsessed with earning the praise and validation of the media, that at one point during his rant on North Korea, he literally just started rambling nonsensically about President Obama, claiming Obama would not have been able to arrange a meeting with Kim Jong-un.\u201d<\/p>\n Added Meyers: \u201cJust mumbling Obama\u2019s name \u2014 like \u2018Obama\u2019 was the name of his childhood sled. His presidential diaries are going to look like the manuscript from The Shining<\/em>. Of course, one major difference between Obama and Trump is that for Trump the presidency isn\u2019t actually a job, it\u2019s just a performance. And on Saturday, he defended his performance by playing make believe on stage and acting out what it would be like if he were less unhinged and more subdued as president.\u201d<\/p>\n Meyers then played a clip of Trump mocking a real president by acting presidential.<\/p>\n \u201cI have to say, he might be the only white comedian who does a white guy<\/a> voice\u2026But Trump\u2019s ranting about North Korea and being presidential tells us a lot about his shock announcement last week that he had agreed to a summit meeting with Kim Jong-un. Now it\u2019s undeniably better to be on a path toward peace than a ramp-up to war. And if Trump somehow manages to fall ass<\/a>-backwards into a peaceful resolution with North Korea, then that is absolutely a good thing.
