1)<\/strong> Lena Waithe has just signed a deal with Sight Unseen Pictures<\/a> through her own production company, Hillman Grad. This deal includes financing and developing new projects that will \u201cidentify and champion emerging voices currently underserved in the marketplace.\u201d Showtime\u2019s The Chi<\/em>, which Waithe created and executive produces, is currently airing. Last month, TBS ordered a pilot for another series created by Waithe, Twenties<\/em><\/a>. Check out a trailer for the upcoming episode of The Chi<\/em> below!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> \"\"Egyptian Filmmaker Sam Abbas is launching the first ever \u201cArab-based film company that will focus on movies with LGBTQ themes\u201d<\/a>. ArabQ will open with Abbas\u2019 first film, The Wedding<\/em>, which centers on a closeted man<\/a> struggling with his sexuality before his upcoming marriage. The film stars The Bold Type<\/em>-fan favorite Nikohl Boosheri (Adena)<\/a>. Abbas stated that by placing the company in Egypt, it will be a great chance to encourage \u201cmore queer cinema with Middle East ties.\u201d<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> \"\"Out actor and comedian Tig Notaro has just been cast in Paramount\u2019s new comedy, Instant Family<\/em>.<\/a> The film will center on a couple<\/a> who decide to start a family by adopting three children. Notaro stars alongside Octavia Spencer as the social workers who cause more drama for the couple<\/a>. Production is set to start next month. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> Gay actor and musician Jussie Smollet is taking part in the Epix docuseries, America Divided<\/em><\/a>. Smollet is among the list of five public figures who will \u201clook at the most provocative news headlines and cultural topics in recent months.\u201d Smollet is also an executive producer of the show. Smollet is best known for his role on Fox\u2019s hit Empire<\/em>. He plays Jamal Lyon, the gay<\/a> son of Lucious and Cookie Lyon. Empire<\/em> is set to return on March 22nd with the second half of season three. Smollet has been busy within the world of music as well! His debut album, sum of my music<\/em>, hit<\/a> shelves today!<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> Blood Orange, or Dev Hynes, released a short album earlier this month, titled Black History<\/em><\/a>. The two songs on the album are \u201cJune 12th<\/sup>\u201d and \u201cChristopher and 6th<\/sup>.\u201d \u201cJune 12th<\/sup>\u201d specifically deals with the intersectionality of being a queer black man<\/a>, and how these identities have shaped his life. Blood Orange\u2019s next album is likely to be released sometime this year. Check out the song below!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> Out country singer Chase Sansing has just released his new single, \u201cBegins with You<\/a>.\u201d Sansing has said that this song is representative of his own experiences as a gay<\/a> man<\/a>. \u201cI wrote this song specifically to reach out to kids that are like me and are growing up in a small town thinking they are different and that there\u2019s something wrong with them and that it\u2019s a bad thing,\u201d he continues. \u201cI hope this song shows them that it\u2019s not and they are perfect the way they are.\u201d Watch his music video<\/a> below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

7)<\/strong> Kelela, the out musician and GLAAD Media Awards nominee<\/a>, has just released an animated video<\/a> for her song \u201cFrontline.\u201d Watch her music video<\/a> below!\u00a0In other music news, pansexual musician Russel Elliot has just released the music video<\/a> for his new single \u201cI\u2019ll Be Damned.\u201d His song comes off his new EP Split Ends<\/em>, which is set to be released next month. Much like his first EP, Split Ends<\/em> will also deal with the details of queer relationships.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

8)<\/strong> Fischerspooner has recently released their new album after almost a decade<\/a>. Sir <\/em>is all about queer relationships in the digital age. Casey Spooner has stated that he thinks the album is more important now than ever as the album specifically focuses on queer stories in a climate where our voices are often sidelined. Check out one of the songs of the album, \u201cButterscotch Goddam,\u201d below!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

9)<\/strong>\"\"Jill Soloway, the creator of the award-winning Amazon show Transparent,<\/em> is set to launch her own Amazon publishing imprint<\/a>. Topple Books is meant to \u201cspotlight the voices of women<\/a> of color, gender non-conforming, lesbian<\/a>, bisexual<\/a>, transgender and queer writers.\u201d<\/p>\n

10)<\/strong> Recently out transgender writer Mal Ortberg is set to release her new book, The Merry Spinster: Tales of Everyday Horror <\/em>on March 13th<\/sup><\/a>. Ortberg is the founder of the now discontinued online publication, The Toast<\/em>, as well as the author of the New York Time<\/em>\u2019s Best Seller Texts from Jane Eyre. <\/em>\u00a0This new collection of short stories will take inspiration from classic tales such as Cinderella<\/em> and Frog and Toad are Friends, <\/em>and many of the stories will discuss ideas of gender and gender roles.<\/p>\n

11)<\/strong> Lavender, <\/em>a short film that is currently seeking funding, follows the story of a young gay<\/a> Latinx man<\/a> who becomes wrapped up in the relationship of an older couple<\/a>.
