Out Olympians Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy sat down with the TODAY show on Friday to reflect on their Olympic experience. The pair not only developed a lifelong friendship in PyeongChang, they made headlines every single day they were there.<\/p>\n

Rippon was asked about the squabble with Vice President Mike Pence and the phone call<\/a> he refused to take.<\/p>\n

Said Rippon: \u201cI feel that Mike Pence doesn\u2019t stand for anything that I was taught when I grew up. And I think that it\u2019s important if you\u2019re given the platform to speak up for those who don\u2019t have a voice. And I was offered a phone call<\/a> with the vice president that I decided not to take before the Games\u2026.I didn\u2019t take the phone call<\/a> because I needed to focus on the competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rippon said he would \u201ctotally\u201d take the phone call<\/a> now.<\/p>\n

Asked if \u201cwe\u2019ve all made too much\u201d of the Pence drama, Rippon replied: \u201cI think there\u2019s a lot being made of it because people still on some level have a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added Kenworthy: \u201cMy boyfriend and I had a kiss at the bottom of the contest and people were like, \u2018we get it, we don\u2019t need to see it though. I don\u2019t care what you do it behind closed doors, but don\u2019t put it in my face.\u2019 And it\u2019s kind of like, my entire life \u2013 in movies and commercials, in public \u2013 everywhere you see straight heterosexual love and that\u2019s completely fine because it\u2019s normal, but us also showing the same type of affection isn\u2019t shoving it in your face, it\u2019s just existing.\u201d<\/p>\n
