Following a \u201clistening session\u201d on Thursday with victims of school shootings including the one last week in Parkland, Florida, Donald Trump said he backs arming teachers.<\/p>\n

Trump appeared to suggest that if\u00a0Aaron Feis<\/a>, an assistant football coach who died while shielding students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was armed, the gunman would have been stopped sooner: \u201cIf the coach had a firearm in his locker when he ran at this guy<\/a> \u2026 if he had a firearm, he wouldn\u2019t have had to run, he would have shot and that would have been the end of it,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
Trump then went on to weigh the merits of eliminating gun-free zones in schools and allowing armed teachers who have \u201cspecial training\u201d to access their firearm in schools.<\/p>\n
\u201cGun-free zone to a maniac, because they\u2019re all cowards \u2026 is \u2018Let\u2019s go in and let\u2019s attack because bullets aren\u2019t coming back at us,’\u201d Trump said. \u201cIf you do this, and a lot of people are talking about it, and it\u2019s certainly a point that we\u2019ll discuss, but concealed-carry for teachers and for people of talent, of that type of talent.\u201d<\/p>\n
