GLAAD, the world\u2019s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, today called on corporations to join other advertisers in pulling their advertising from the Daily Mail following a hateful OpEd<\/a> by Richard Littlejohn titled \u201cPlease don\u2019t pretend two dads is the new normal\u201d in which he attacks Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black for announcing that they are expectant fathers.<\/p>\n

London arts hub Southbank Centre, and vacation destination Center Parcs, have already removed their ads<\/a>, but many companies, including\u00a0Suzuki Cars UK, DFS, Iceland Foods, Plusnet, Honda UK, Boots and\u00a0Carpetright UK are yet to pull their advertising or speak out against the anti-LGBTQ hate.<\/p>\n

In the column, Littlejohn attacks the couple<\/a>’s joyous announcement as a “publicity stunt,\u201d while admitting he clings to the belief that “children benefit most from being brought up by a man<\/a> and a woman<\/a>.” He also goes on to attack a 30-year-old transgender woman<\/a> for breastfeeding her child, attacking her identity and her fitness as a parent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis hateful discourse should never be normalized or sanctioned by businesses who expect LGBTQ people and our allies to use their products and services,\u201d said Zeke Stokes, Vice President of Programs at GLAAD<\/strong>. \u201cWe call<\/a> on these companies to take a stand against the outdated arguments and vile homophobia and transphobia expressed in this column, and put their money where their mouths are by pulling their ads, and supporting LGBTQ people.\u201d<\/p>\n
