The BBC\u2019s Newsbeat caught up with 22-year-old Liam Anderson,<\/a>\u00a0a gay<\/a> Shetland man<\/a> who finds the Grindr situation desperate in the subarctic archipelago just northeast of Britain and west of Norway.<\/p>\n

Liam told the BBC he\u2019s been single for 18 months, and says the dating options are quite scarce:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt can be quite hard for the LGBT community here, choice is limited\u2026I didn\u2019t have problems coming out in Shetland, people are friendly\u2026Hiding away is not an option here though \u2013 because everyone knows you!\u00a0You can access Grindr app here. It\u2019s ok but you do know a lot of the people on it, so that can feel awkward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liam is about to set off on a trip around Europe, so perhaps he\u2019ll have some fun on the move.<\/p>\n
