Alan Cumming is set to star in the procedural crime drama Instinct<\/em> as an openly gay<\/a>\u00a0former CIA operative and will be making network TV history in that role.<\/p>\n Cumming and the show\u2019s producers are praising CBS for taking that chance, Deadline report<\/a>s:<\/p>\n Instinct<\/em>\u00a0executive producer Michael Rauch had kicked off the show\u2019s TCA Q&A, also giving CBS a lot of credit for putting on the air the country\u2019s first hour-long series with a gay<\/a> lead character. The series and the character are based on James Patterson\u2019s upcoming book.
