Gogglebox\u2019s Leon Bernicoff Dies, Aged 83<\/b>
\nLeon Bernicoff, who found fame alongside his wife June on \u2018Gogglebox\u2019, has died at the age 83.<\/p>\n

The sad news was announced on the programme\u2019s Twitter account, with Channel 4 later stating that Leon died in hospital after a short period of illness.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and #Gogglebox legend Leon,\u201d the tweet read. \u201cWe will all miss him so very dearly.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts are with June and family at this incredibly sad time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nIn a longer statement, Channel 4 and Studio Lambert, who make \u2018Gogglebox\u2019, said (via the BBC): \u201cLeon and his wife June were the first members of the public to be cast for \u2018Gogglebox\u2019 back in early 2013, and they soon grew to become much-loved voices during the course of the show\u2019s 10 series to date.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeon\u2019s unique personality and sharp wit endeared him to fans of the show, as he contributed fully to Gogglebox\u2019s reputation as a programme full of warm humour and unvarnished opinion.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo those of us that knew him personally, Leon was a man<\/a> of unwavering principles who exerted a distinct paternal presence both on and off screen. He will be dearly missed by the entire \u2018Gogglebox\u2019 family; cast and crew.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s creator, Tania Alexander,\u00a0 posted her condolences on Twitter, as many fans began sharing tributes.<\/p>\n
