Ellen welcomed Alabama dad Nathan Mathis, who went viral protesting Roy Moore for his gay<\/a> daughter who committed suicide. Watch it HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n As it turns out, Mathis is smarter and more amazing the more you get to know him.<\/p>\n Mathis spoke to him about his regrets at the way he reacted to his daughter when she came out to him and wished things had gone differently, and that\u2019s the reason he\u2019s speaking out now. He says that he came around after taking his daughter to a number of doctors about the fact that she was gay<\/a>, and each of them told the two of them, there\u2019s nothing you can do. You are who you are.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, his daughter ended up taking her life.<\/p>\n Mathis said that he never expected to get the attention that he did and that he wasn\u2019t even sure he could get near the rally.<\/p>\n \u201cI had my sign in a trruck and I pulled in to where they were parking people and I said look I realize this is private property but I have a sign I would like to take down to the event if I could\u2026.about a half mile down this dirt road\u2026.he said \u2018sure, a lot of people are taking signs.\u2019 Well he just didn\u2019t look at my sign. He thought I had a \u2018I love Roy Moore sign\u2019.<\/p>\n Mathis said he had trouble getting the sign made as well. When he texted what he wanted on it to one sign maker, the sign maker texted him back and said he couldn\u2019t make the sign.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said \u2018I can\u2019t make that sign for you. I have a son who\u2019s in the gay<\/a> community and he\u2019s rebelled against God and I just can\u2019t do such a thing as that.\u2019 Well I knew a little bit about this man<\/a>\u2019s life and how he\u2019s lived it so I text him back and I said, \u2018well I\u2019m sorry you feel that way, but God also says you shouldn\u2019t be living with another man<\/a>\u2019s wife.’\u201d<\/p>\n When asked about the election results, Mathis said:<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very excited it went the way it did. The last thing we needed was Roy Moore in Washington.
