A North Carolina<\/a> restaurant fired a server for posting a customer receipt online that included a note complaining about him being gay<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n On November 30, a customer at a Hickory Tavern franchise in Union City wrote: \u201cOur gay<\/a> waiter made me wanna throw up my food!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cRuined my experience tongt [sic],\u201d the note added, \u201cwill not be back!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Hickory Tavern patron Lucia Stetson wrote on Facebook:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cA sweet young man<\/a> was fired from his server job at Hickory Tavern after sharing a bigoted note left by a customer. Let\u2019s help him find a new job.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The restaurant later offered the server his job back after learning he may not have understood the company\u2019s confidentiality policy.<\/span><\/p>\n In a statement to the <\/span>Charlotte Observer<\/b><\/a><\/em>, the restaurant said: <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe strongly condemn the insults directed at one of our team members in remarks left by a patron on their credit card receipt.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe value diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation or for any other reason.
