Every week, the GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend!<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> Call Me by Your Name <\/em>opens in select theaters this weekend. Based on the novel of the same name, the film follows the romance between 17 year old Elio Perlman (Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet) and doctorate student Oliver (Armie Hammer) in the summer of 1983 in Italy. The film has been getting phenomenal critical acclaim for its artistic and intimate depiction of a love story between two men<\/a>, still a rarity in modern film. For those in New York and LA, the film will be be released on Friday, and then will open in more theaters across the country throughout the month and into\u00a0December. 2)<\/strong> A24\u2019s coming-of-age story Lady Bird<\/em> opens in wide release this weekend. The directorial debut of Greta Gerwig, the film follows the titular Lady Bird over the course of her senior year of high school at a Catholic school in Sacramento. The film follows her relationships with friends, boyfriends, and her mother as\u00a0well as exploring other coming of age\u00a0in the early aughts, including a character’s\u00a0LGBTQ storyline. Lady Bird<\/em> is already receiving glowing reviews from its limited release as well as doing exceptionally well at the box office. 3)<\/strong>\u00a0The CW released the trailer for their massive four-part crossover<\/a> between their DC superhero shows: Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, <\/em>and DC\u2019s Legends of Tomorrow. <\/em>This two-day event, titled \u201cCrisis on Earth X,\u201d will also introduce new superhero Raymond Terrill (aka The Ray,) a gay<\/a> superhero who will go on to have his own animated show the CW Seed, Freedom Fighters: The Ray. <\/em>The event airs November 27th<\/sup> and 28th<\/sup>\u00a0at 8pm on the CW.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong>\u00a0SyFy\u2019s The Magicians<\/em> released a trailer for their third season this week.<\/a>\u00a0The show, based on the popular Lev Grossman novels, follows a group of 20 somethings as they must save the existence of magic in the mysterious and dangerous world of Fillory. The ensemble includes the character of Eliot, a gay<\/a> whip-smart magician who is an important part of the core group. The Magicians <\/em>will return\u00a0January 10th<\/sup> at 9pm on SyFy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\"\"5)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>Showtime’s\u00a0The L Word\u2019<\/a><\/em>s reboot has found its new showrunner in out writer Marja Lewis-Ryan<\/a>, the writer of The Four-Faced Liar <\/em>and the upcoming film 6 Balloons. <\/em>\u201cIlene and the original\u00a0L Word<\/em>\u00a0made me believe that my voice mattered,\u201d said Ryan, regarding the show. \u201cI am beyond excited for the opportunity to usher in the next generation of diverse queer people. I couldn\u2019t imagine a better time to make this show.\u201d Ryan will be executive producing with Ilene Chaiken, Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey.<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong>\u00a0Out singer Parson James released the lyric video and single \u201cOnly You\u201d last week.<\/a> This is the first single of off his highly anticipated debut full length album, set to come out around summer of 2018, a follow up to last year\u2019s EP The Temple. <\/em>\u201cOnly You\u201d is a personal and heartfelt break up song, which plays to the singer\u2019s best emotional and vocal strength. \u201cOnly You\u201d is available for streaming and purchase and you can watch the lyric video<\/a> below!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

7)<\/strong> Former America\u2019s Got Talent <\/em>finalist and out singer\/songwriter Brian Justin Crum released a music video<\/a> for his single \u201cWild Side.\u201d He is currently working on his debut EP. \u201cWild Side\u201d is available for purchase and to stream now!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

8)<\/strong> Out comedian, writer, actor Tig Notaro has been tapped to host the Los Angeles ceremony for the\u00a033rd annual Artio Awards, the Casting Society of America’s awards for outstanding casting. The awards are given to outstanding casting for\u00a0film, televison, television, and theater. In addition to hosting and her stand up comedy, Notaro also stars and show runs the GLAAD Media Award-nominated comedy\u00a0One Mississippi,\u00a0<\/em>available to stream\u00a0on Amazon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
