Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>\u2019s Craig Revel Horwood<\/a> might have a reputation for being the harshest judge on the BBC dance show, but even he\u2019s admitted that new head judge Shirley Ballas<\/a> has been stealing his thunder this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Craig has gone as far as to label Shirley the \u201cvillain\u201d of this series, after she dished out some hard to swallow critiques to some of this year\u2019s celebrity contestants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Craig told The Sun: \u201cShirley is this year\u2019s villain. She\u2019s frighteningly technical with her criticism, and I know the audience might struggle with that.\u201d<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cShe was a Halloween baddie in a Cruella de Vil costume \u2013 she totally channelled her.\u201d<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Craig\u2019s comments come after \u2018Strictly\u2019 fans kicked off at the head judge, following her decision to axe <\/span>Aston Merrygold<\/span><\/a> from the show last weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Sunday (5 November), <\/span>the decision fell to Shirley<\/span><\/a> to decide whether to eliminate the former JLS star or competitor Mollie King after the dance-off, <\/span>when the rest of the judging panel failed to reach a decision<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultimately, she chose to give Aston his marching orders, but viewers were not happy<\/a>, with many criticising Shirley for sending home a contestant who had been a favourite throughout the contest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shirley has been particularly technical in her feedback since joining the show this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier in the series she told \u2018Good Morning Britain\u2019 presenter \u201cwe had nine sets of eight before we got started\u201d, and told TV chef Simon Rimmer \u201cyou have to learn what closes, what crosses, what\u2019s a flat foot, what\u2019s a toe, and with your soft knees it will help you to glide around the floor.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But a BBC source insists that show bosses are \u201cdelighted\u201d with how well Shirley is doing on the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Strictly source told The Sun: \u201cShirley is a stickler for technique and she\u2019s proud of her dance knowledge. She\u2019s trying to ignore social media for a while and not let other people\u2019s opinions get to her but it does get hard, especially when the abuse is so personal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe was hoping Strictly would be a fun experience and wasn\u2019t banking on a backlash.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut bosses are delighted with how she\u2019s getting on and like her detailed critique.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
