Charlie Elphicke has had the Conservative <\/a>whip suspended following serious allegations that have been referred to the police, Tory chief whip Julian Smith said.<\/p>\n

The Dover MP has denied any wrongdoing over serious allegations made against him, tweeting:\u00a0<\/p>\n

The party tipped off the press before telling me of my suspension. I am not aware of what the alleged claims are and deny any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n

The news came shortly after it was revealed that\u00a0Labour is investigating<\/a>Clive Lewis<\/a>\u00a0after an official complaint accused the shadow minister of groping a woman<\/a> at the party\u2019s annual conference last month.<\/p>\n

The allegation was made by a party member who said she was meeting the front-bencher for the first time when they hugged and gave her\u00a0\u201cbum a big squeeze\u201d,\u00a0reports The Independent<\/a>.<\/p>\n
