The remarks are being revisited following a story about the rise of the FOX News host, a favorite of Donald Trump, in the Washington Post<\/em><\/a>. While the WaPo article focuses on a broader swath of Hannity\u2019s background than his time at UCSB, it has given those remarks renewed attention.<\/p>\n The Independent<\/em> reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n In one portion of the interview, Mr Hannity claimed there was \u201csort of a brainwashing\u201d going on regarding the \u201ctrue information\u201d about AIDS.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat is the coverup all about that the media is hiding from the general public?\u201d Mr Hannity asked, according to the\u00a0Washington Pos<\/em>t<\/a>. \u201c\u2026They won\u2019t let you say it\u2019s a gay<\/a> disease.\u201d (Mr Hannity\u00a0denies making this specific remark.)<\/p>\n In the same segment, Mr Hannity called gay<\/a> people \u201cdisgusting,\u201d and compared their sex<\/a> lives to \u201cplaying in a sewer,\u201d according to tapes obtained by\u00a0Media Matters<\/a>. He also\u00a0called homosexuality a \u201clower form of behaviour,\u201d before accusing gay<\/a> people of being \u201cfilled with hatred and bigotry\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel sorry for your child,\u201d he told Jody May-Chang, a lesbian<\/a> woman<\/a> who called into the show.<\/p>\n Ms\u00a0May-Chang later complained to UCSB about Mr Hannity\u2019s comments. Following a flood of similar complaints, the school\u00a0pulled Mr Hannity from the station.<\/p>\n In 2014, Media Matters posted some clips and transcripts<\/a> of the interview, which you can listen to below in which he says gay<\/a> people are prone to disease, discusses how gay<\/a> people mutilate gerbils and shove them up their rectums, eat each other\u2019s feces, and more.<\/p>\n In other clips (at the source) Hannity tells a caller he wouldn\u2019t allow a gay<\/a> person to teach his child, he agrees with Antonio that gay<\/a> people \u201care filled with anti-sexual heterophobia,\u201d and he says that gay<\/a> people prey on homeless kids because all they want is \u201ca new piece of meat.\u201d<\/p>\n In one segment, Hannity claims gay<\/a> people are \u201cbrainwashing\u201d the public about AIDS:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Transcript:<\/p>\n There\u2019s sort of a brainwashing, if you want my opinion, going on, where they don\u2019t want the general public to get the true information about this disease. It seems like they\u2019re trying to hide the facts to keep the public from getting alarmed about it, because they\u2019re afraid, perhaps, of the backlash that they might receive, the homosexuals might receive. [KCSB, 4\/4\/89]<\/p>\n In another, Hannity said people who have gay<\/a> sex<\/a> are prone to disease:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Transcript:<\/p>\n HANNITY: I just want to go into a little bit, in terms of the physical aspects, just so people know of what happens when you\u2019re a homosexual,\u00a0why is that so prone to disease as it has been?<\/strong><\/p>\n ANTONIO: OK, listen. When you engage in rectal sodomy, first of all, the rectum is designed to expel feces, not take in a penis<\/a>.\u00a0And so what happens is the body rebels against that.<\/p>\n [\u2026]<\/p>\n ANTONIO: [C]learly the rectum is not a place for copulating. And I hate to use strong language but that\u2019s the same thing. We have medical knowledge, we know that bacteria and all these things exist in this day and age. And we know, it\u2019s common sense you wouldn\u2019t let your child play over a sewer, would you? [KCSB, 4\/4\/89]<\/p>\n In another, Hannity engaged in a conversation with Antonio and a caller discussing how gay<\/a> men<\/a> cut the claws and teeth off gerbils and stuff them up their rectums in a desperate need for a substitute woman<\/a>:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Transcript:<\/p>\n ANTONIO:\u00a0[T]hey have had meetings, literally, of the SPCA, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Dallas and elsewhere around the country,\u00a0because these homosexuals were cutting the claws off of gerbils,\u00a0and prying their teeth out,\u00a0and stuffing them up their rectums.\u00a0It\u2019s called gerbil stuffing.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n HANNITY: Oh,\u00a0my\u00a0God.<\/p>\n CALLER: I believe you. They\u2019re getting sick with it. Crazy.<\/p>\n ANTONIO: It\u2019s just this perversion. They don\u2019t know what to do. They\u2019re frantic in the search for a substitute woman<\/a>. But they won\u2019t let you say that they have a disease. They won\u2019t let you say it\u2019s a gay<\/a> disease and they won\u2019t let you examine the practices that have caused them, making them so susceptible to these diseases. And these are not fringe magazines.
