The highly-anticipated film Tom of Finland<\/em> is hitting U.S. theaters this weekend (see below). In September we showed you the full trailer<\/a> and today we\u2019ve got three new clips from the film for you to enjoy.<\/p>\n

\u201cDirected by\u00a0Dome Karukoski, the film follows\u00a0Touko Laaksonen, a decorated officer, as he returns home to Finland after fighting for his country\u00a0in World War II. But life\u00a0during peacetime proves just as\u00a0distressing as his time on the battlefields in Europe. Laaksonen finds Helsinki rampant with persecution of homosexuals and sees many men<\/a>\u00a0around him pressured to marry women<\/a> and have children. Touko finds refuge in his art, specializing in homoerotic drawings of muscular men<\/a>, free of\u00a0inhibitions. His work \u2013 made famous by his signature \u2018Tom of Finland\u2019 \u2013 \u201cbecame the emblem of a generation of men<\/a> and fanned the flames of a gay<\/a> revolution,\u201d as the film\u2019s producers describe it.<\/p>\n

The film is\u00a0Finland\u2019s official choice for submission in the Oscars\u2019 \u201cBest Foreign Language Film\u201d<\/a>\u00a0category and it\u00a0comes to New York City this weekend and Los Angeles and San Francisco the following weekend.<\/p>\n

\"\"In NYC it\u2019s at the Quad Cinemas in NYC<\/strong><\/a> from October 13-17 at 11:15a, 1:45p, 4:15p, 6:45p, and 9:20p with a Q&A with lead actor Pekka Strang following the 6:45p shows on the 13th and 14th.<\/p>\n

Additionally, there\u2019s a Tom<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0Finland<\/span>-themed \u201cUniform Night\u201d<\/strong> to celebrate the film at NYC bar The Eagle on the 14th. More info HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In L.A., it opens on 10\/20 at the Landmark Nuart Theater<\/a>. There\u2019s a Q&A with lead actor Pekka Strang and representatives from the\u00a0Tom<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0Finland<\/span>\u00a0Foundation on\u00a010\/20 after the 7p show<\/a> (other showtimes TBA).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
