<\/a><\/p>\nThis week in New Music: Grammy-nominated Glen Hansard is back with his third solo album,\u00a0Yusuf\/Cat Stevens<\/strong> is still quite franky amazing after 50 years,\u00a0Hurts<\/strong> are still causing pain and just listen<\/em> to\u00a0Camille<\/strong> (above).<\/p>\n Glen Hansard<\/a> \u2013 \u201cTime Will Be the Healer\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Album number three <\/span>Two Shores<\/span><\/i> will be released in January 2018. <\/span><\/p>\n Hansard is pretty much a legend on the Irish live<\/a> circuit, first coming to attention in \u201cThe Commitments,\u201d followed by a two-decade career with <\/span>The Frames<\/b>, one of the best live<\/a> bands you\u2019ll ever see.<\/span><\/p>\n His international profile was raised with the Oscar winning soundtrack for \u201cOnce\u201d and that formula hasn\u2019t changed much. If anything, Hansard has pared down the sound further. <\/span>Didn\u2019t He Ramble<\/span><\/i> was pretty much on man<\/a> and a guitar. On <\/span>Two Shores<\/span><\/i>, Hansard is completely in charge, producing for the first time.<\/span><\/p>\n Have a listen to \u201cTime Will Be a Healer\u201d below.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Yusuf\/Cat Stevens \u2013 <\/b>The Laughing Apple<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n With reinterpretations of some of his earliest work alongside some new material and older songs never before released somehow there is a cohesiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n Granted that whole sounds like it could have been released any time in the last half century. That\u2019s because Stevens is a legend and like <\/span>Joni Mitchell<\/b> his music remains pertinent and contemporary but forever timeless. <\/span><\/p>\n Pretty good then.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Hurts \u2013 <\/b>Desire<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n All bright and shiny and young, they were expected to be huge. They were <\/span>Pet Shop Boys<\/b> meets <\/span>Erasure<\/b> meets <\/span>Depeche Mode<\/b> meets <\/span>Take That<\/b> but for some reason they were just not\u2026.magnificent. <\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s hard to say what was missing. What ever happened to <\/span>Sophie and Peter Johnson<\/b>? Somehow it just didn\u2019t gel.<\/span><\/p>\n On their latest album <\/span>Desire<\/span><\/i> it appears that Adam Anderson and singer Theo Hutchcraft have decided to throw everything at it in an attempt to finally break through.<\/span><\/p>\n Sadly they probably won\u2019t. There are songs on <\/span>Desire<\/span><\/i> that could be <\/span>Take That<\/b>-level classics. \n<\/a>It seems like decades since English synty pop duo <\/span>Hurts<\/b> emerged as the next-big-thing with their debut album <\/span>Happiness <\/span><\/i>in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n
