On Saturday, September 9, GLAAD honored Don Lemon at the 2017 GLAAD Gala San Francisco. Lemon received the Davidson\/Valentini Award, which is presented to an LGBTQ media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance for the LGBTQ community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The GLAAD Gala San Francisco\u00a0celebrates and features storytellers who accelerate acceptance for the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Don Lemon praised out journalists including Anderson Cooper, Robin Roberts, Rachel Maddow, Gio Benitez, and Thomas Roberts.<\/p>\n

Lemon went on to condemn white supremacy saying: \u201cWe have to point out outright bigotry and racism – and as a man<\/a> of color, I certainly know it when I see it, I can smell it coming- and to make sure that some uninformed people don\u2019t get confused that there are no fine or good Nazis or white supremacists anywhere and it\u2019s not about both sides.\u201d<\/p>\n

The award was presented to Lemon by\u00a0CNN commentator and president of Dream Corps, Van Jones.<\/p>\n
