<\/a><\/p>\nPolice in Ireland<\/a> are investigating after a man<\/a> was assaulted by up to ten people who saw him kiss another man<\/a> on a date.<\/span><\/p>\n 32-year-old Gary Daly was in a bar in Sligo with his date when they were set upon by the group of thugs. He \u00a0was left with scars to his face after being head-butted, punched and bitten.<\/span><\/p>\n The Sun<\/b><\/a><\/em> reports:<\/span><\/p>\n [Daly] was with his date when someone in the pub shouted: \u201cAre those two gays<\/a> kissing?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Gary said: \u201cA guy<\/a> started demanding we leave the bar, but we refused and said \u2018we have the same rights as anyone else to be here\u2019.\u00a0<\/span>He left and returned with a bunch of guys<\/a>, between eight or ten, and started getting hostile towards us again.\u00a0<\/span>He caught me a cheap shot head-butt<\/a> to the side of my face out of the blue and then they began punching and kicking us.\u00a0<\/span>We tried to defend ourselves. I was able to subdue one of them, but then one of the other guys<\/a> threw me down a flight of stairs into the beer garden.\u00a0<\/span>They then continued punching and beat us and started using the garden furniture to hit us and threw it at us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n After another patron broke up the fight, Daly and his date reentered the pub. However, shortly afterwards, the pair were targeted again.<\/span><\/p>\n Upon re-entering the pub, the thugs began hurling homophobic slurs at the couple<\/a> again and a second assault ensued.<\/span><\/p>\n Gary, from Co Meath, covered his face in an attempt to protect himself, but one of the scumbags still managed to take a chunk out of his nose.<\/span><\/p>\n He said: \u201cOne of them came over and bit me on the nose.\u00a0Another one had grabbed my friend by the head and bounced it off the bar.\u00a0As they were leaving the guy<\/a> who bit me on the nose said \u2018I am not into that shit\u2019.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n As a result of the bite, Gary, who now lives in Longford, had to receive a Hepatitis B shot, and will require two additional shots in the near future.<\/span><\/p>\n He was also left with a scar from the teeth marks.<\/span><\/p>\n Daly added that \u201cit was a surprise in this day and age\u201d that such an attack would take place.<\/span><\/p>\n Gay Senator Jerry Buttimer (right) said: <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAny attack of gay<\/a> people has to be condemned in the strongest possible manner. <\/a>Daly\u2019s date has bruises and cuts \u00adon his face and could not eat as his jaw was so badly damaged. The 20-year-old man<\/a> was put on antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory and painkillers following the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n
