<\/a><\/p>\nThis week in New Music: Indie rock quartet Inheaven<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>go stadium rock on their latest track,\u00a0Tori Amos<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0thankfully does classic Tori Amos on \u201cUp the Creek\u201d and London trio\u00a0Girl Ray<\/strong> are effortlessly indie timeless on\u00a0Earl Ray<\/em>.<\/p>\n Inheaven \u2013 \u201cStupid Things\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n They\u2019re recently popped-up their efforts seem to be heading squarely in the direction of world-dominating stadium rock which makes sense considering they recently released a track via <\/span>The Stokes<\/b> frontman Julian Casablanas\u2019 Cult Records.<\/span><\/p>\n If anything, on \u201cStupid Things\u201d the quartet emulate <\/span>The Killers<\/b> with a hook to die for.<\/span><\/p>\n The song is \u201ca school crush that feels like it will last forever\u2026and it\u2019s our very own coming of age soundtrack.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Tori Amos \u2013 \u201cUp the Creek\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Of the forthcoming <\/span>Native Invader<\/span><\/i>, Amos said the album \u201clooks to Nature and how, through resilience, she heals herself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Sounds about right.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe songs,\u201d she added, \u201calso wrestle with the question: what is our part in the destruction of our land, as well as ourselves, and in our relationships with each other?<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn life there can be the shock of unexpected fires, floods, earthquakes, or any cataclysmic ravager \u2013 both on the inside and outside of our minds. Sonically and visually, I wanted to look at how Nature creates with her opposing forces, becoming the ultimate regenerator through her cycles of death and re-birth. Time and time again she is able to renew, can we find this renewal for ourselves?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Sticking with that theme, \u201cUp the Creek\u201d includes the lines \u201cGood lord willin\u2019 and the creek don\u2019t rise\/ We may just survive\/ If the militia of the mind\/ Arm against those climate blind,\u201d apparently a reference to her Native American grandfather.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Girl Ray \u2013 <\/b>Earl Grey<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n The anti-pop teens<\/a> took as their stepping off points not the likes of <\/span>Lorde<\/b> and <\/span>Charli XCX<\/b> but the old 90s vinyl albums in their parents\u2019 attics \u2013 <\/span>Pavement<\/b>, <\/span>The Shop Assistants, Housemartins, <\/b>early <\/span>REM<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n The list of influences is endless so there is, frankly, nothing original about the album but in familiarity their is great comfort.<\/span><\/p>\n One of the greatest attributes of <\/span>Earl Ray<\/span><\/i> is that it fits right in with their folks\u2019 faves. \n<\/a>Indie rock act <\/span>Inheaven<\/b> seemed to be heading for a sound more akin to <\/span>The Cult<\/b> of <\/span>Pixies<\/b> with their first couple<\/a> of throwback singles.<\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/a>With her 18th studio album due out in early September, <\/span>Tori Amos<\/b> has just issued the second track off the album \u2013 \u201cUp the Creek\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/a>English trio <\/span>Girl Ray<\/b> \u2013 Poppy Hankin, Iris McConnell and Sophie Moss \u2013 are the very epitome of London cool.<\/span><\/p>\n
