<\/a><\/p>\nAaron Schock\u2019s lawyers say witnesses in the case against the former congressman have been asked \u201cdistasteful, offensive,\u201d and \u201cprejudicial\u201d questions about every facet of Schock\u2019s sex<\/a> life including whether he is gay<\/a> and if his girlfriend<\/a> was a beard.<\/p>\n The Chicago Sun-Times<\/em> reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cThe government has investigated nearly every facet of Mr. Schock\u2019s professional, political, and personal life. This even includes his sex<\/a> life. It is no secret that there has long been speculative gossip in the media about Mr. Schock\u2019s sexual orientation.<\/p>\n \u201cFor no apparent reason, the government has felt itself compelled to investigate this too. Indeed, from the very inception of this investigation, the government has discussed with witnesses whether Mr. Schock is gay<\/a>, whether he really \u2018dated\u2019 his ex-girlfriend<\/a> (a highly accomplished diplomat and attorney), and whether he spent the night or shared hotel rooms with her.<\/p>\n Schock\u2019s troubles began when photos of his Downton Abbey-inspired\u00a0congressional office leaked and it was then discovered\u00a0that he illegally accepted a designer\u2019s services for free.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n In March of 2015, the FBI\u00a0began an investigation into Schock\u2019s spending habits<\/a>, an investigation that ultimately revealed \u201cuntoward allegations\u201d about Schock that\u00a0would damage his reputation<\/a>, according to his lawyers. In June 2010, a photo of Schock at a White House picnic in white jeans, an aqua belt, and purple gingham shirt posted by the website Gawker.com<\/a> sent the gay<\/a> rumors into overdrive. Schock\u00a0later tweeted that he \u201cburned the belt\u201d<\/a>after the photo went viral.<\/p>\n
