<\/a><\/p>\nSelf-described friend of the LGBTQ community Ivanka Trump learned of her father\u2019s announcement that he would ban transgender military service from Twitter, like everyone else, Politico reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n Last week [Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump]\u00a0were blindsided by the president\u2019s tweet saying he planned to ban transgender people from serving in the military, according to several White House aides, a major coup for conservatives who had been quietly lobbying the administration on the issue for months.<\/p>\n White House officials said the first daughter was surprised by her father\u2019s posts; in the past, Trump has been a supporter of gay<\/a> rights.
