<\/a><\/p>\nLawmakers in Uganda<\/a> have indicated that they could\u00a0resurrect\u00a0the country\u2019s \u201cKill the Gays\u201d<\/a> bill.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2012, parliamentary speaker Rebecca Kadaga promised to <\/span>swiftly pass<\/b><\/a> the \u201ckill the gays<\/a>\u201d bill as a \u201cChristmas gift\u201d to Ugandans. She held off on her promise for fear of losing international aid.<\/span><\/p>\n However, Kadaga has now called on legislators to pass a new law banning \u201cunnatural acts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Grace Waitherero, communications officer for Sexual Minorities Uganda, told Gay Star News<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe have more to do in this country than passing a bill like this. We need to eliminate HIV rather than trying to abuse the rights of Ugandans.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cUgandans don\u2019t really care about these things. They can hate LGBTI persons, but there\u2019s nothing they can do if the law doesn\u2019t allow them to do it. Although if there was a law that would allow them to hunt LGBTI people down, they would do it.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t need the law. It\u2019s just unnecessary. They are trying to set progress back.
