The Gay Officers Action League (GOAL) chapter of the New York City police department will honor recently deceased officer Michael Hance<\/a>, who starred in a viral video<\/a> from 2015 as he enthusiastically danced with a Pride parade participant, during its Pride celebration<\/a> this Wednesday.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Daily News<\/em> reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n Police Officer Michael Hance\u2019s family will be in attendance when GOAL acknowledges the fallen cop with their Ally Award for his impromptu dance as he stood a post during the city\u2019s 2015 Pride Parade.<\/p>\n The award will be given out at the 2017 NYPD Pride Celebration at 1 Police Plaza.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople look at what he did and say, \u2018OK, it\u2019s a (short) clip\u2019 \u2014 but that video<\/a> was viewed nearly 10 million times,\u201d said GOAL president Brian Downey.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re so appreciative of the attention that was drawn by this one act of kindness.\u201d<\/p>\n The video<\/a> made a stir at the time<\/a> and the identity of the (straight) officer was soon discovered and celebrated. Unfortunately, he passed in March of this year <\/a>due to a 9\/11-related cancer.<\/p>\n The GOAL event will feature television personality Andy Cohen and will also honor Deputy Commissioner Cathleen S.
