Fans of \u201980s camp and Andy Cohen alike are in for a treat. Cohen\u2019s revival of the classic dating show Love Connection <\/em>premiered Thursday night\u00a0on Fox and as the show\u00a0continues, it will include\u00a0gay<\/a>\u00a0singles looking for love as well, according to media reports.<\/p>\n The revival boasts some departures from\u00a0Chuck Woolery\u2019s classic dating show, including that in this iteration, if the audience prefers a suitor\u00a0that the contestant\u00a0does not, the suitor can go with the audience pick for $10,000, TooFab reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a little love or money twist in the end,\u201d Cohen teased in a first look.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Contestants will also date each of the suitors, with a $500 per-date budget, and each will give a score based on their first impressions, Cohen told TooFab.<\/p>\n While that\u00a0$10,000 is a nice prize, Cohen also revealed an important upgrade for the show: this go around, there will be plenty of gay<\/a> contestants.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s 2017, and they should just be treated the exact same way as I\u2019m treating everyone else,\u201d Cohen told the Advocate<\/a><\/em> about the gay<\/a> and lesbian<\/a> contestants.\u00a0\u201cI think it\u2019s just kind of this post-gay<\/a> world that we live<\/a> in, where it\u2019s just another part of this dating show.\u201d<\/p>\n The choice to include gay<\/a> singles was Cohen\u2019s idea, the Advocate<\/em> reports, and the suggestion was met with an emphatic yes.<\/p>\n \u201cThe more visibility, the better,\u201d Cohen continued. \u201cA network show where you have gay<\/a> people dating? I think it\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n More than anything, Cohen said that this go around, viewers can expect more diversity and variety in the contestants and their stories.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve got a great lesbian<\/a> group of daters, one of whom comes out to her mother on the air. We\u2019ve got a man<\/a> who is in his 70\u2019s who went on his first Tinder date, but the woman<\/a> stood him up so we set him up with three dates. We\u2019ve got gay<\/a> guys<\/a>.
