NBC today released the official trailer<\/a> for the revival of the classic hit comedy Will & Grace<\/em>, returning this fall for a 12-episode ninth season after ending in 2006.\u00a0This Emmy award-winning sitcom about two gay<\/a> men<\/a> and two straight women<\/a> living in New York was the first prime time television show to have an openly gay<\/a> lead, not to mention two of them. The characters of Will (Eric McCormack) and Jack (Sean Hayes) showed two different perspectives of being gay<\/a> and young in New York, and both of them were given several romantic interests over the show’s eight season run. Will & Grace <\/em>received seven GLAAD Media Awards during its eight seasons and 18 Emmy awards.\u00a0It\u00a0<\/em>is often acknowledged as opening the doors for all the LGBTQ-inclusive series that followed<\/a>,\u00a0and was even\u00a0cited by former Vice President Joe Biden as being hugely impactful on his coming to support marriage equality.<\/a>\u00a0In an interview with\u00a0Meet the Press,<\/em>\u00a0he said the show “probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody has done so far”<\/a>. Series star Debra Messing was honored with GLAAD’s Excellence in Media Award<\/a> at the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York earlier this month.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
